I just got to play the PSP version of Smackdown vs Raw 2009 on my friend's PSP and let me tell you, I am not willing to give it back to my friend. Lots of issues from previous Smackdown vs Raw versions have been dealt with. Here is the list of issues on top of my head right now:
1. Annoying hip-hop background music
It got replaced with a playlist of the superstars' themes and less annoying hip-hop/rock!
2. 3D object collision issues
Other SVR versions in the past had a big problem: I could not seem to successfully stomp my opponents... But Smackdown vs Raw 2009 solved this problem. Well, at least in the PSP version. I have not played the console versions yet.
3. Long loading times
This one sucked. And yea, it loads pretty fast on the PSP now. Kudos!
4. The feel
I am not sure, but when playing, the game feels like the awesome Smackdown 2 : Know Your Role on PSX. Which is good. But again, I tried the PSP version, so it might not feel the same on othe console versions.
Issues yet to be dealt with, in my opinion:
1. Insufficient Create-a-Wrestler Options.
Especially the hair. It would be nice if I could choose individual hair parts instead of hair for the whole head...
2. No Weight factor in matches
Cruiserweights can suplex the Big Show easily... what?!
3. Create a Finisher Limitations
In Smackdown vs Raw 2009, you get to create a finisher, and that is a very good thing, but the creation part still seems limited. I could not create a lot of moves that I have in mind. Hopefully next year, it will be better.
Overall, Smackdown vs Raw 2009 for PSP is something I can spend hours on. A very big improvement from 2008, in my opinion.
