File-Sharing Sites, Peer-to-Peer
The Internet is not all about websites now. With file-sharing sites and peer-to-peer programs rising up like crazy, people are using loads of Internet bandwidth to download stuff.
The Internet is not all about websites now. With file-sharing sites and peer-to-peer programs rising up like crazy, people are using loads of Internet bandwidth to download stuff.
Peer-to-peer programs and file-sharing sites give you a lot of facilities to enjoy lots of stuff. They can let you share your files with your friends. Any file can be shared. Including virused files. Including illegal warez or mp3 files. And sometimes the peer-to-peer programs may self-install some backdoor, worms or trojan horse viruses into your computer.
File-sharing lets a user do a lot and this well-includes piracy. People can now search and download free games, songs and movies. This is considered as a kind of theft, but oh well. This is technology.
The popular peer-to-peer software and file-sharing sites are:
- Limewire
- Shareaza
- Bearshare
- eMule
- eDonkey
- Kazaa
- Grokster
- Morpheus
It is good to share. Sharing is caring. But sharing or obtaining stuff and breaking the law is another story...
